Our Approach

Our homes for children will be full loving, happy, healthy homes where children are safe from harm and able to develop, thrive and fulfil their potential where we will value and nurture each child as an individual with talents, strengths and capabilities that can develop over time.

Through building positive and consistent attachment relationships Ivory Cottage will seek to foster positive relationships, encouraging strong bonds between children and adults through being alongside, being available and providing nurturing, thoughtful and consistent boundaries.

Ivory Cottage will be ambitious in the promotion of children’s school learning and out of-school learning. Working closely with education settings, partners and developing opportunities to complement and add towards children’s learning experiences.

Our approach will be based on a pedological values to empower young people to learn and make progress. This enables Ivory Cottage staff to be attentive to children’s needs: supporting emotional, mental and physical health needs; including repairing earlier damage to self-esteem and encouraging friendships.

Ivory Cottage will work with the wider community around the children including families, friends and professionals. We will seek to help, explore and repair through reunification and recovery.

Ivory Cottage holds high expectations of our staff and committed to empowering young people. In support of this, Ivory Cottage will ensure all staff are engaged in their roles and supported to meet the needs of young people.

Ivory Cottage homes will provide a safe and stimulating environment, with spaces that support, nurture and allow privacy, as well as common spaces and spaces to be active.
